Lift and tire size q

My brother is thinking of using a 2.5-inch lift kit on hus '21 Impreza using XYZ coilovers, he got it lowered! Would like to check with you what's the max safe height he can extend the coilovers to work with the 2.5 inch lift? To add he has a 17 inch aftermarket wheels and he still wants to use it. anyone knows what's the largest tire size he can fit after the lift without any rubbing issues?

He's also looking for some good off-road tires that'll fit his 17x7.5 wheels. thanks everyone!

18s aren't great for off-road, no sidewall. I ran 215/65R16s (27") with a 2" lift, minor rubbing. Anything bigger needs trimming. I'm on 29s now, but it took lift, spacers, cutting, and a heat gun. If you're off-roading, swap to 16s or 15s for sidewall

I'm currently running 235/65R17 and I have absolutely no problem with off roading. It doesn't do well with rock crawling, but it's an impreza, not a land cruiser, so we shouldn't expect it to do miracles.

That's awesome! My friend did something like that with his Crosstrek too. He added a 2-inch lift and put on 17x7 wheels, and he managed to fit 235/65R17 Falken Wildpeaks with just a little trimming of the inner fender liner. No rubbing while he's out on the trails, but it does get a bit tight when he turns all the way in reverse.

Make sure your brother checks the strut-to-tire clearance as well. That's where a lot of people run into problems with lifted Subarus. What kind of off-roading is he looking to do? Just trails, in the snow, or a mix of everything?

Yeah, I'm really happy with the Wildpeaks so far. That strut clearance thing is a real gotcha, isn't it? Glad I could point it out. And you're right, a little reverse rub isn't a big deal. My buddy seems to have nailed the balance of off-road fun and still being able to use it every day.
