Since my Impreza is a base model, I was riding on the 16 inch wheels which make the car look like a tractor. The tires are done and I need to replace them, so I was thinking of upping the wheel size, but I'm not sure if I should go for 17 or 18? How much of a difference there is and how much will I kill the comfort levels with the current setup?

Curious, what kind of driving do you do most? That might help you with your choice. 18s will definitely sharpen handling but that might make bumps more noticeable. If you're after balance, 17s are probably the best one for you. but that's just me. Let's see what the others here say

well, I don't drive like I'm retired, but I also don't drive it like I stole it, so somewhere inbetween, if that makes sence. I'll write you down as a recommendation for the 17s and see what the other voters have to say about this :)

If you care about comfort, stick with 17s. 18s look better but kill the ride on crappy roads, especially coming from 16s, don't risk turning your Impreza into a bone shaker just for looks

write me down for the 17s as well. I can appreciate a nice looking car with some low profile tires, but those are just for show and people don't even drive them too much. For a daily drive, the bigger profile will make all the difference in the world.
