auto Stop/Start issue on my 2018 Subaru no restart at lights

I ran into this strange prob with my 2018 Impreza last week. A couple of times, when the auto stop/start system kicked in at a red light, the engine shut off like it should. But when I let go of the brake, it just wouldn't restart. I didn't see any warning msgs or alerts on the dashboard, which was super frustrating

Has anyone else dealt with something like this? I'm really curious if anyone has any ideas about what might be going on

Could be your battery if it's weak or borderline, the stop or start system might shut off the engine but not restart it so you should check the battery voltage and terminals first and if that's all good, it might be a glitch with the brake switch or a software issue.

A buddy of mine had a similar issue and yep, it turned out to be a weak battery not enough to restart after stop/start. Might be worth having your battery and starter checked. Did it happen more when the AC or other systems were running?

Electrical issues like that could be caused by a loose ground, especially during high power draw. Start by checking that your battery cables are tight. If youve got a multimeter, try checking the voltage at different times to see if the battery might be on its way out.

That sounds frustrating! Got a 2024 Impreza Sport and haven't had that issue yet. Hope you got it fixed already, thanks for the tips. I know now what to check if it happens to mine
